Biebrich Palace, a magnificent three-winged baroque edifice, was built directly on the banks of the Rhine between 1700 and 1750. It was the residence of the Princes and later Dukes of Nassau. The rotunda and galleries serve nowadays as reception rooms for the Prime Minister of Hesse. The palace also accommodates the Film Rating Office, the Hessian State Office for Listed Buildings, and the Hessian State Swimming Bath Administration. Every Whitsun, the palace gardens host the prestigious “International Riding and Carriage-Driving Tournament”.
