»Lautten Compagney and its founder and director Wolfgang Katschner are among the top early music ensembles and are distinguished especially by their creative concepts, which make the seemingly impossible possible. In all its programme variety Lautten Compagney is always effective due to its highest musical standards, coupled with a wonderful enjoyment of playing that spills over into the audience.«
Lautten Compagney Berlin
Lautten Compagney celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2009. Today it is one of Germany’s most celebrated baroque ensembles and plays music in various chamber music configurations including a baroque operatic orchestra. Its repertoire includes a wide range of works from the 16th to the 18th century. With concerts and opera performances the ensemble is invited to play at renowned festivals and events throughout Germany and abroad and regularly produces surprises with its original programming and rediscoveries of unfamiliar works. Especially successful were Lautten Compagney’s recent CD recordings of La Diva – Arias for Cuzzoni with Handel arias, sung by early music star Simone Kermes and its recording of Purcell’s Love Songs along with Dorothee Mields. Lautten Compagney’s CD Timeless with compositions by Merula and Glass attracted attention and received an Echo Klassik award in 2010 in the Best Ensemble – Early Music category.
