During his studies, Christian Gerhaher attended the Opera School of the Music College in Munich. Together with his regular pianist Gerold Huber, he also studied singing there under Friedemann Berger and in parallel to his medical studies rounded off his voice training in advanced courses with Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, Elisabeth Schwarzkopf and Inge Borkh. In conjunction with Gerold Huber, he is well-nigh unrivalled in terms of setting new standards for lieder interpretation – their recordings have won numerous prizes.
