In the crypt, the oldest section of the present-day church (which is located over the foundations of a preceding structure), at the end of an ancient staircase in the cellar of the Romanesque fortified tower, the Church of St. Martin still exhibits traces of plaster from the time of the Salian Dynasty (1024 – 1125). The present-day church was built in 1508, and features imposing Gothic arches and slim columns supporting magnificent stellar vaults. The exquisite interior contains many notable works of art from various eras, including the three altars.
