It is in 1292 that we find the first mention of Kraft von Allendorf, Schaffenstein Castle, Kiddrich. The family firm still proudly displays the coat-of-arms today. In 1560 Adam von Allendorf lost the family fortune - and thus the Allendorfer Hof as well, the present-day Schloss Reinhartshausen. Through the marriage of Philip Anton Allendorf (the 14th of 17 children) to the daughter of a Rheingau wine-grower, the family re-acquired some vineyards in 1773. In 1955, Fritz Allendorf became the family’s first full-time wine-grower and founded the winery with 1.5 hectares of vines under cultivation. In 1996, the winery was taken over by Ulrich Allendorf and his sister Christel Schönleber. In 2002, the estate had grown to 55 hectares with 380 vineyards, and was producing approximately 500,000 bottles of wine a year.
