The 30st anniversary of the Rheingau Musik Festival will take place from 24 June to 2nd September 2017 and will showcase about 160 events.
The course is set for the coming season. The 30th Rheingau Music Festival will be opened on June 24, 2017 and will end on the 2nd of September. The program "Overture" will be published for the members of the festival supporters club in the middle of January 2017. The program will be presented at a press conference on 20 February 2017 and the general advance sale will start.
The festival summer 2017 is characterized by "Aufbruch". The starting point is the personal initial spark of the festival founder and director Michael Herrmann: In the summers of 1964, 1965 and 1966, he traveled to Prades, at the foot of the Pyrenees, to experience the chamber music festival of the legendary cellist Pablo Casals. He was deeply impressed by the artists and the works, and he developed the idea of establishing a classical music festival in the Rheingau region and celebrating this unique region every year with a "summer of music". After a probelup in the summer of 1987 with two concerts in the monastery of Eberbach, Michael Herrmann founded the Rheingau Music Festival Support association on 23rd November 1987 in the Adlerturm in Rüdesheim with some music-loving friends. This gave the company a solid foundation. On June 23, 1988, the first shot of the Rheingau Music Festival took place. Next year the festival will be in the 30th round. This festival is the occasion for festival organizers to present original piano programs from the years 1964, 1965 and 1966 from Prades in the Rheingau region. The patronage of the chamber music series "Prades - In Memoriam Pablo Casals" takes over Marta Casals Istomin, the widow of Pablo Casals. The theme of "Aufbruch" spins in the areas of "Next Generation" and "Tanz! Musik". This also applies to the new series "Expedition Sound", in which the festival presents musical cross-borderers. Our three focus artists 2017 from classical and jazz wait with musical surprises and promise unique concert moments. Other outstanding artists and ensembles return to the festival or celebrate their debut, making their share of a very special, the 30th season of the Rheingau Music Festival.
