Additional Information

With the deepest regret we have learned of the death of Enoch zu Guttenberg. Enoch zu Guttenberg was with his ensembles, the Chorgemeinschaft Neubeuern and the orchestra of the KlangVerwaltung Munich, from the beginning of the festival on more frequent and very welcome guest at the Rheingau Music Festival. In addition, he was for several years a member of the board of trustees of the Rheingau Music Festival. Enoch zu Guttenberg was one of the most famous and respected German conductors of the present day. Guttenberg received the Federal Cross of Merit 1st Class, the Bavarian Poetentaler, the Bavarian State Medal for Services to the Environment, the Bavarian Order of Merit and, in 2017, the Rheingau Music Prize. Festival director Michael Herrmann is shocked by the death of his close friend, who emphasized this friendship at the presentation of the Rheingau Music Prize by saying, "Actually, we are not just friends, but brothers."
