benefit gala in support of the Rheingau Musik Festival Foundation

The Rheingau-Concert

The benefit concert is combined with an appeal to the audience to support the Rheingau Music Festival Foundation. The non-profit Rheingau Music Festival Foundation will pass on a large proportion of the donations to musicians who find themselves in financial difficulties as a result of the festival being cancelled. "We are particularly concerned here with those artists who are not among the top earners," stresses Festival Director Michael Herrmann.

"In doing so, we are sending a signal of solidarity with the festival," says chief conductor Andrés Orozco-Estrada. He has put together pieces on the themes of light, freedom and hope, from the Bach aria to Mendelssohn's "Midsummer Night's Dream". As a reminiscence of the Beethoven Year, the programme includes overtures from "Egmont", "Fidelio" and the "Creatures of Prometheus".

The soloist of the evening is star violinist Lisa Batiashvili, who will bring new arrangements of classical works to the stage under the title "City Lights". The concert will be presented by Andrés Orozco-Estrada, who will also invite the audience* on a short tour of discovery through the monastery complex.

The hr-fernsehen will broadcast the benefit gala on Sunday, 28 June, at 8.15 pm.

The Rheingau Music Festival Foundation sees itself as a supporter and partner of the Rheingau Music Festival idea. The purpose of the charitable foundation is to promote art and culture, focusing on projects of the Rheingau Music Festival that are particularly worthy of support and, in this corona crisis, to provide financial assistance to musicians who find themselves in financial difficulties as a result of the festival being cancelled. "We are particularly concerned here with those artists who are not among the top earners," emphasizes Festival Director Michael Herrmann.

Donations for the "Rheingau Music Festival Foundation" are most welcome on the account at the Nassauische Sparkasse IBAN: DE21 5105 0015 0454 0469 00, BIC: NASSDE55XXX.
